Nigerian duo, Moses Simon and Anderson Esiti, were in top form for their club, Gent, as they ended Tottenham’s Europa League dreams.

The Super Eagles stars both featured to help their Belgian side eliminate Spurs 3-2 on aggregate in the round of 32.

Gent arrived Wembley Stadium with a slim 1-0 advantage and needed to avoid defeat on Thursday to progress.

And they did just that – holding the hosts to a 2-2 draw – a result which automatically eliminated Spurs.

Christian Eriksen gave Mauricio Pochettino’s side the lead after just 10 minutes before Harry Kane shockingly scored an own goal 10 minutes later to bring the visitors back into the game.

Things, however, turned sour for Tottenham when Dele Alli was sent off for his vicious tackle on Brecht Dejaegere towards the end of the first half.

But they managed to go ahead once again through Victor Wanyama but the celebration was abruptly cut short by Jeremy Perbet.

While forward Simon saw 75 minutes of action, defensive midfielder, Esiti, lasted the entire duration of the game.
