Ministry apologises for interfering in Abike Dabiri, Pantami clash

The Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy has apologised to the public for using its social media handle to interfere in the clash between the chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami.

The ministry had in the heat of the clash on Sunday tweeted: “Like seriously! When you have no offence or facts to challenge his intellectual know-how you resort to report the colonisers. I hear, you are Lampard’s twin. Continue… Indaboski Bahose will sure visit you soon.”

However, the ministry apologised on Monday, saying the handler thought he was operating his personal account.

“We sincerely apologise to Nigerians, this was a mistake by one of the handlers of this account who thought he was tweeting with his personal account. We are a responsive handle and would not get involved with such,” the ministry wrote.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and NIDCOM are currently at war over office space in the NCC building in Abuja.

Mrs Dabiri-Erewa had on Saturday alleged that armed security operatives acting on the orders of Mr Pantami chased NIDCOM staff out of an office allocated to it in the NCC building by the Federal Government.

The NCC and Pantami have both disproved the allegations.
