Mimiko’s former deputy Ali Olanusi loses wife

A former deputy governor of Ondo State Ali Olanusi has lost his wife Bejide following a brief illness.

Bejide, 77, died on Tuesday in Akure, the state capital.

Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress issued a statement commiserating with the Olanusi family.

The party’s publicity secretary Alex Kalejaye said that “Chief (Mrs.) Olanusi died today (Tuesday) in Akure, had complained of stress yesterday, and was taken to a hospital. She died ahead of her husband’s planned birthday celebration.

“The State Chairman of the party, Engr. Ade Adetimehin described sad development as ill-timed, shocking and unfortunate. He said Alhaja was a strong pillar behind the husband’s political success story.

“The party chairman urged baba Olanusi, the bereaved families, and the entire Supare community in Akoko South West to take solace in that the departed lived a worthy and fulfilled life.”

The party called on the bereaved families, particularly the children, to ensure that Bejide is immortalised.

Olanusi was the deputy to the former governor Olusegun Mimiko between 2009 and 2015.
