Actress Michelle Dede has congratulated Tobi Amusan for beating Camacho-Quinn to retain Diamond League title.
Amusan clocked 12.29 seconds on Thursday in Zurich, Switzerland to achieve the feat. Tia Jones came second clocking 12.40 seconds while Brittany Anderson came third with a run of 12.42 seconds.
Olympic champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, came fourth after running 12.49 seconds.
On Thursday, Amusan, 25, competed alongside Camacho-Quinn, Olympic silver medallist, Kendra Harrison; world silver medalist, Anderson; world indoor silver medalist, Devynne Charlton; and 2019 world champion, Nia Ali.
Congratulating her in the comment section of her Instagram post on Thursday, Michelle Dede hailed the world record holder and appreciated God for the win.
She wrote: “Tobi faya. God is faithful indeed. #Goddid.”
The world record holder had suffered a loss in the same event at the Lausanne Diamond League meet on Friday, August 26.
The Ijebu-Ode-born athlete ran 12.45s to finish second behind Camacho-Quinn who clocked 12:34s to set a new meeting record.
Amusan had on Sunday, September 4 secured a win in the women’s 100m hurdles at ISTAF Berlin 2022.
She clocked 12.45s (-0.3), winning by more than one-tenth over her closest challenger Tia Jones who could only manage 12.58s. Jamaican Megan Tapper came third in 12.66s.
After her win in Berlin, Amusan took to social media to reveal her excitement about the Diamond League finals, noting she was the first Nigerian to win a Diamond League trophy.
Captioning her post, she wrote, “Next stop is the Diamond League final later this week. Same stadium my winning spree began last year when I became the first Nigerian to win a Diamond League Trophy. I look forward to that moment once again. Your will be done Oh Lord!”
