Kechi Okwuchi Sosoliso plane crash survivor on America Got Talent

Members of the audience booed Mel B for criticising a performance by Kechi Okwuchi, a survivor of the 2005 Sosoliso plane crash on Monday’s episode of America’s Got Talent: The Champions.

Simon Cowell urged the audience to boo Mel B in support of his Golden Buzzer pick, Kechi Okwuchi.

Kechi Okwuchi performed ‘Opportunity’ from the 2014 film, Annie.

The 43-year-old Mel B told Kechi that she was one of America’s favorite acts before criticising her performance saying the “song lost you a little bit,” which made the audience boo the judge.

The 29-year-old musician and motivational speaker wowed the audience and judges with her powerful rendition of Calum Scott’s ‘You are the Reason.’

The talented singer was a finalist for the 12th season of the talent show in 2017 making headlines around the world as she battled to a sixth position in the finals.

Kechi Okwuchi was one of two survivors on board the December 2005 Sosoliso air crash that crash-landed at the Port Harcourt International Airport claiming 107 lives.

She has undergone over 100 reconstructive surgeries due to injuries and burns.

The former student of Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja is a Shriner’s Hospital advocate for burn victims.

The 2019 Champions season of America’s Got Talent is a special edition bringing together participants from previous seasons.
