Meet the best 10 footballers in the world

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t the only player recognised at Thursday’s Ballon d’Or event.

Though the Real Madrid superstar was the main cast of the show in Paris, a lot of other stars shone at the event.

For the third time in four years, Ronaldo pipped Lionel Messi to the most prestigious individual accolade in the world.

In third was the Argentine’s ex-teammate at Barca, Neymar, who will certainly be a serious contender for the next edition.

Just narrowly falling outside the top three was Juventus veteran goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon.

The Italian was phenomenal as the Old Lady’s claimed a domestic double and also reached the Champions League final.

Ronaldo’s Real Madrid Teammates, Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos, came fifth and sixth respectively.

Kylian Mbappe’s improbable year at Monaco earned him the seventh spot.

N’Golo Kante, who almost single-handedly drove Chelsea to the Premier League title, came eighth.

Robert Lewandowski and Harry Kane completed the top 10.
