Former Katsina State governor and chairman of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Aminu Masari will deliver the keynote address at the 2025 annual conference of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP).
The conference, scheduled for Thursday, October 9, will hold at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, with the theme “Reconciling Campaign Promises with Governance Realities: Challenges and Prospects.”
GOCOP’s publicity secretary, Ogbuefi Nweke, confirmed Masari’s role in a statement on Tuesday.
He said the former governor accepted the invitation during a courtesy visit by a GOCOP delegation led by its deputy president and conference planning committee chair, Danlami Nmodu, in Abuja.
Masari, who also served as speaker of the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007, governed Katsina State from 2015 to 2023.
Earlier in his career, he was commissioner for works, housing and transport in Katsina State between 1991 and 1993.
Past GOCOP conferences have featured speakers such as Bishop Matthew Kukah, who delivered the 2019 keynote, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, who spoke in 2022 and capital market scholar, Uche Uwaleke, who addressed the 2023 edition.
GOCOP, a professional body of 119 member organisations, was founded to uphold journalism standards in the digital age.
