Marketer docked for alleged N339,000 fraud

A marketer Ayari Leambee, was on Thursday docked in a Grade I Area Court in Karu, Abuja for allegedly defrauding his employer of N339,000.

The police charged the defendant 30, with criminal breach of trust by a servant, cheating and criminal misappropriation.

The Prosecution Counsel Olanrewaju Osho told the court that on November 2022 the complainant employed the defendant as a marketer in his company.

Osho said on January 13, the defendant collected N339,000 from various customers and converted it to his personal use.

During a police investigation, he said, the defendant could not give a satisfactory explanation to all allegations against him.

He said the matter was reported at the Karu Police Station, by John Amachi, the complainant.

The offense, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 314, 322 and 309 of the penal Code.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Malam Umar Mayana, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Mayana also ordered that the sum of N400,000 must be deposited to the court as security bail for the defendant.

He adjourned the case until March 2 for a hearing.
