Manchester City completely outplayed Premier League champions Chelsea in a 3-0 win at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Following the controversy surrounding Jose Mourinho’s treatment of Chelsea’s medical staff, the defeat to City meant more pain for fans of the reigning champions.

Sergio Aguero put the host in front in the 31st minute before Vincent Kompany scored the second goal in a row in the79th minute for the Manchester side.

Brazilian Fernandinho completed the rout with a screamer which ensured the Citizens leapfrogged Leicester City to go top.

The victory sent City five points clear of their title rivals, with two wins from two, while Mourinho was left to reflect on a comprehensive defeat that ended a bad week for the Blues.

Earlier in the day, Arsenal defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park. A Damien Daleney own goal ensured Arsene Wenger men picked up their first win of the season.

The Gunners had earlier gone in front in the 16th minute via Olivier Giroud before Joel Ward pulled a leveller for the host.
