Manchester City, Arsenal slip as Klopp suffers first defeat at Liverpool

Arsenal failed to capitalise on Manchester City’s goalless affair at Aston Villa after forcing archrivals, Tottenham, to a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

The Gunners would have gone top of the Barclays Premier League with victory over Spurs at the Emirates Stadium but could only manage to share the spoils with their North London neighbours.

Harry Kane put the visitors in front at the half hour mark before Kieran Gibbs got a rare goal for Arsene Wenger’s team to bring the game level.

City and Arsenal are tied on points with 26 apiece, but the Citizens remain top thanks to a superior goal difference

In the other game of the day, Liverpool were stunned 2-1 by Crystal Palace at Anfield in the presence of ex-skipper, Steven Gerrard.

Yannick Bolasie and Scott Dann got the goals for Alan Pardew’s side, while Philippe Coutinho’s third goal in two games wasn’t enough for the Reds.

The defeat is Liverpool’s first under new boss, Jurgen Klopp, who took over the helm of affairs at the Merseyside club from the sacked Brendan Rodgers.

Crystal Palace win at Anfield takes them up to 8th on the log with 19 points, while Liverpool slipped to 10th.
