Man strangled to death while bathing pet python

A 42-year-old man identified simply as Jana has been strangled by his favourite pet python while he was giving it a bath.

Mr Jana, a resident of Citiru Village in the Kutawaringin District of Bandung Regency of Indonesia, was found dead on Friday.

Jana’s wife, Elah, said their child discovered her husband’s lifeless body behind their house Friday morning.

The man was buried on Friday afternoon according to Islamic tradition.

Elah told reporters that Jana had long raised reptiles as a hobby and often sold snakes to others.

“I have resigned myself to the fact that my husband died because of a snake, it was fate,” Elah said.

The 17-kilogram python reportedly escaped down a water channel around the toilet behind Jana’s house after killing its owner.

It was eventually captured and killed to prevent it from attacking any other humans.

Head of the local neighbourhood association identified as Rukiman said the snake was buried next to its owner.

“The snake that killed him was also buried close to Pak Jana’s tomb,” Rukiman said.
