Man killed in Niger for wooing married woman

A 21-year-old man, Audu Umar, has allegedly killed a 30-year-old man, Abubakar Muhammadu, for allegedly wooing his wife.

Mr Umar, who is being held in police custody, said he was not regretful of his action.

“I do not regret killing him because Muhammadu decided to die like a chicken. In his next world, he will not make advances to married women in this village.

“I am ready to bear the consequences, so let the law take its cause. I am fulfilled Muhammadu will never see my wife again, Allah will judge him,” he said.

The suspect and his victim are both natives of Wawa village in New-Bussa of Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

Umar said he repeatedly warned Muhammadu to stay off his wife, Hassana Audu, but the victim continued pestering her.

Umar said he was forced to attack the victim with a machete on his head.

Niger police spokesman, Mohammad Abubakar, has said Umar would be charged to court after investigation.
