Man docked over alleged robbery, possession of ammunition

An Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has remanded one Ahmed Azeez, 23, for allegedly being found in possession of live cartridges and robbery.

The Magistrate, Mrs A. Kusanu, said that Azeez should be remanded at  Ikoyi Prison pending legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Azeez was brought on a three-count charge of robbery, being in possession of arms and ammunition and conspiracy.

His plea was not taken.

Insp. Jimah Iseghede, the Prosecutor, had earlier told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Oct. 20 about 2.20 a.m. at Okobaba St., Ebute Meta.

He alleged that Azeez was found with one life and one expended cartridge and was involved in a robbery.

The alleged offences contravene Sections 287, 297 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

Magistrate Kusanu adjourned the case until Dec. 10 pending advice from te DPP.
