Man allegedly kills rival over girlfriend in Anambra

Police in Anambra have arrested two persons suspected to have killed a man, Chinedu Okoye, at Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, over a woman.

The police gave the suspects’ names as Dubem Okeke, 28; and Okechukwu Okafor, 37.

Mr Okeke, who is said to be in love with a lady named, Ifenyichukwu Kamsisichukwu, allegedly sought the aid of his friend in killing Mr Okoye.

Anambra police spokesman, Haruna Mohammed, in a statement said the incident occurred early Friday at Umuru village, Ogidi.

He said the suspects “stormed the house of one Ifenyichukwu Kamsisichukwu, 20, forced her to open her door and took away her boyfriend, one Chinedu Okoye, 24 years of Umuru Village Ogidi and shot him with a gun.”

The victim died at Twinkle Hospital, Ogidi.

He said the victim’s corpse had been deposited at Iyienu Hospital morgue Ogidi for autopsy.

Mr Mohammed added that preliminary investigation revealed that the principal suspect, Dubem Okoye who allegedly pulled the trigger was said to have been at loggerhead with the deceased over a girlfriend.

He said the single barrel gun allegedly used in perpetrating the act was recovered from the suspects as exhibits.

The suspects, according to him, would be prosecuted after investigation.
