Man, 34, remanded in prison for alleged murder

An Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered the remand of a 34-year-old man, Friday Apata in prison, for the alleged murder of a 40-year-old man, Sesan Akinrinmade.

Apata, whose address was not provided at the court, pleaded not guilty to a count charge of murder.

The Prosecutor, Insp.Olasunkanmi Bamikole told the court that the accused committed the offence ‎on Jan. 30, at Ijadu Village in Ado Ekiti.

He said the deceased went to a scene of a communal clash where he was attacked by the accused because the accused thought that he was an enemy.

The prosecutor said that Akinrinmade died as a result of the attack.‎

‎Bamikole said the offence contravened Section ‎325 of the Criminal Code, Cap C16, Law of Ekiti State, 2012.

The Magistrate, Mrs Modupe Afeniforo, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison.‎‎

Afeniforo adjourned the case until March 2, pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP).
