Malaysia-returnee tests negative for coronavirus in Katsina

The Malaysia-returnee in Katsina State suspected to be infected with coronavirus has tested negative, the government said on Thursday.

Katsina State Commissioner for Health, Yakubu Danja, said at a press conference that tests carried out on the suspected case proved negative.

He said: “On 18, March 2020, a press conference was held by the officials of the state Ministry of Health where we briefed you that there was a suspected case of COVID-19 in the state and informed you that we were waiting for the result.

“I am pleased to inform you that the result is out and it is negative. Therefore, Katsina State has no case of COVID-19.”

Mr Danja called for calm among residents of the state, assuring that the government would do all to safeguard public health.
