Reggae musician, Majek Fashek, has revealed he would love to do a musical collaboration with Afrobeat superstar, Femi Kuti.

Majek, who was recently discharged from a rehab in Abuja where he was admitted for substance abuse, spoke late Wednesday night on Mellow Magic with Elvina Ibru on Classic FM, Lagos.

According to him, Femi is one of the best artistes in Africa. He is also impressed by the fact that he is the son of Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

The other artiste on his collaboration wish list is 2face Idibia.

He also revealed on the radio programme monitored by Qed.ng that he is working on an album to be released by 911 Entertainment.

Majek was at the 46th Annual General Conference and Scientific Meeting of the Association of Psychiatrists in Nigeria (APN) in Lagos earlier on Wednesday where he called for the rehabilitation of mentally ill patients.

Speaking at the conference titled “Mental Health as a Driver for Positive Change” the recovering artiste stressed that mental health is very important in the lives of the people and nation.

The rainmaker who had battled drug and alcohol abuse for years noted that mentally ill people also have great potentials and talents.

“Mental health is not a yardstick to look down upon people.

“There is need to create a system to manage or rehabilitate people who are not mentally balanced and as well create more awareness on mental health challenges and appropriate management.

“Government should look into how to rehabilitate mental health patients as most of them have great potentials and talents,” he said.
