Plateau United victory parade

Over three months after emerging Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Plateau United finally held a trophy parade tour in the city of Jos on Thursday.

Plateau shocked the odds to emerge Nigerian champions for the first time in September, barely one year after returning to the top-flight.

Kennedy Boboye-led side were outstanding from beginning to end, amassing 66 points – four more than closest rivals, MFM FC.

But since that famous title triumph, the Jos-based club had not paraded the trophy to its fans.

They finally got that opportunity on Thursday.

As it is gradually becoming a trend amongst NPFL winners, Plateau toured the city on a truck decorated with the club’s yellow and green colours.

Predecessors, Enugu Rangers, did the same on a battered truck last season.

The party began at the Rwang Pam Stadium, home ground of the team, then proceeded to other parts of the Home of Peace and Tourism.

Boboye’s men received warm applause and cheers from supporters.

Plateau will be aiming to defend the title next season which begins on January 14.
