Leon Balgoun breaks Premier League record with first goal

Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, scored with only his first touch on the ball 25 seconds after being substituted in for Brighton against Crystal Palace on Tuesday night.

The Nigerian’s effort, which made it two-nil, is the second quickest aim by a substitute within the Premier League this season.

Daniel Sturridge’s goal versus West Ham United beat his by just a second.

Glenn Murray had given the host the lead in the 24th minute – just one minute before Shane Duffy received his marching orders.

Balogun stepped in for Pascal Gross and immediately doubled their advantage.

Florin Andone made it three.
The former Mainz man almost moved from hero to villain after handing the visitors a penalty after a foul on Wilfried Zaha.

The kick was converted by Luka Milivojevic, though it was nothing but a consolation as the 10-man hosts held firm to secure maximum points.

Brighton have now won six games this term and are ranked 10th with 21 points in the Premier League log.

They travel to Burnley for their next game on Saturday.
