Lekki shooting: Arsenal encourage Nigerian fans to stay safe

End SARS protest

Arsenal FC have advised Nigerian fans to keep safe following the shooting of #EndSARS protesters by men in military uniform on Tuesday night at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos.

The club tweeted on Saturday saying it could not imagine the pain Nigerians were going through.

“To our Nigerian fans, we see you. We hear you. We feel you. We have read your replies. We have seen the footage. We cannot imagine the pain,” the tweet read.

“Our thoughts are with everyone in Nigeria. Stay strong. Stay safe.”

Several Arsenal superstars including captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil have spoken up in support of #EndSARS campaign against police brutality in Nigeria.
