How Laura became Linda Ikeji’s most popular sibling

Laura Ikeji and Linda Ikeji

Fashion entrepreneur, Laura Ikeji, is not just a younger sister of blogger, Linda Ikeji, she is also the most popular of her sister’s siblings.

Sure, Linda has other siblings like Sandra Ikeji, Benita Ikeji, Vera Ikeji, Peks Ikeji and Edna Ikeji, but the University of Lagos psychology graduate stands head and shoulders above the others.

This is how the now heavily pregnant Mrs Ogbonna Kanu became almost as popular as her sister.

Linda’s biggest fan

Laura is Linda Ikeji’s biggest fan and is ready to jump into the ring on her sister’s behalf. When P-Square’s publicist, Bayo Adetu, called Linda a common blogger and accused her of publishing unverified story about the pop duo in 2014, it was the kid sister who declared that Ms Ikeji earned more than the singing twins. Standing by Linda in all weather has put Laura in the forefront among her other siblings.

Tapping into sister’s fame

Laura has built a name for herself using her sister’s fame. In an interview with Broadway TV last year, she challenged those who called her out for using her as leverage. Hear her: “I don’t care if people calls me Linda’s sister. The most important thing is I capitalised on my sister’s success. Instead of doing regular jobs, begging for money or doing runs, I capitalise on my sister’s success and its working. A lot of men give me attention because I’m Linda’s sister and they know what they can get from dating me.”

Fashion enterprise

She launched her outlet, Laura Ikeji Store, in Lekki, Lagos last year. She calls it one of the biggest fashion stores in Nigeria where customers can buy high end fashion items.

Blogging

Like her sister, Laura also has a blog. Although the last post was on October 12, 2016, the buzz generated while the blog was active was enough to give her and her business the much-needed leverage.

Active social media presence

What she misses from her inactive blog, she gains from active presence on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram.  Although she has a modest 6.4k followers on Twitter, her Instagram account boasts of 460k followers. Both handles are verified. She does a minimum of three posts a day on her Instagram page. Apart from updating her followers on goings-on in her life and business, she also does some giveaway, making her accounts engaging and fun to be on.

Married to Kanu Nwankwo’s brother

Marrying an ex-international footballer is a big deal. When that footballer happens to be the younger brother of former Super Eagles captain and Arsenal legend, Nwankwo Kanu, then the world is bound to take note. That is the case of Laura’s marriage to Ogbonna Kanu, with whom she had a traditional marriage at her family compound in Unuduru, Eziama Obaire, Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State in January. The fact that her husband has two kids from a previous relationship has not stopped Laura from flaunting her own pregnancy on social media.
