Late Bisi Egbeyemi’s daughter Bolaji Egbeyemi-Olagbaju

Bolaji Egbeyemi-Olagbaju, daughter of the late former deputy governor of Ekiti State Bisi Egbeyemi emerged deputy speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly on Tuesday.

Mrs Egbeyemi-Olagbaju represents Ado Constituency II at the assembly.

The election of the assembly’s principal officers was held after Governor Biodun Oyebanji proclaimed the seventh assembly in a letter read by the clerk, Tola Esan.

The lawmaker representing Ikole Constituency II Adeoye Aribasoye was elected speaker.

Aribasoye was the chairman of the House Committee on Media and Publicity in the sixth assembly while Egbeyemi-Olagbaju was a senior special assistant to former governor Kayode Fayemi.

Other principal officials of the newly inaugurated assembly are the Majority Leader, Tolulope Ige (APC, Ekiti South West II); Minority Leader, Dele Ogunsakin (Social Democratic Party, Ekiti East Constituency 1); Oluyomi Ayorinde (APC, Ido Osi II); Chief Whip, Bosede Olowookers (APC, Efon); and Deputy Chief Whip, Maryam Ogunlade (APC, Emure).

Speaking after his emergence as speaker, Aribasoye said, “I am fully prepared for the assignment given to me. Though it may be daunting, it is surmountable. We are fully prepared to make laws that will bring about development in our dear state. Laws that will bring about meaningful impact to the lives of the people of Ekiti State will be passed during our tenure.”
