The Lagos State Government has dismissed online claims alleging a rise in kidnapping incidents along the Gbagada Expressway.
The claims, circulated through a flyer shared on social media, warned commuters of alleged abductions in the area and stated that criminals were using the ‘one chance’ method in commercial vehicles.
Reacting on Friday, the chief press secretary to the Governor, Gboyega Akosile, described the message as fake.
He wrote on his official X handle, “Good morning Lagos, please beware of this fake news in circulation again! We’ve addressed it in the past, but purveyors of fakery are not tired of recycling this rubbish. Kindly ignore it. Thank you.”
The notification, which had been previously debunked, claimed to be an alert from the Lagos State Government and referenced alleged intelligence from the Lagos State Police Command about supposed kidnapping cases along the expressway.
Mr Akosile restated that the flyer was not issued by the state government and urged residents to disregard it.
