Lagos Assembly invites cleaner who returned N12m found at MMIA

The Lagos State House of Assembly has invited Josephine Agwu, a cleaner with one of the cleaning concessionaires at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, who found a sum of N12 million and returned it.

The House, which reconvened after a month recess, decided to invite Miss Agwu to a plenary for being patriotic.

Clerk of the House, Segun Abiru, has been directed to put everything in place to bring the lady who returned the money left behind by a passenger at the security unit of the airport to the House.

Deputy Whip of the House, Rotimi Abiru, had under Matter of Urgent Public Importance, raised the issue, calling the attention of his colleagues to the fact that Agwu was returning lost money for the third time

Abiru, who noted that the lady, who earns a monthly salary of N7,800 was given just 50 dollars the second time she found and returned lost money.

Commenting on the matter, Sanai Agunbiade from Ikorodu Constituency 1, noted that the incident did not occur in a Lagos State establishment neither did it occurred in an agency of the state.

Agunbiade pointed out that it won’t be out of place for the lawmakers to show a sign that others will emulate, adding that the House should invite the lady and celebrate her as a sign of moral motivation.

Speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji who presided over the plenary session, expressed surprise that a lady earning a salary of that amount would see money and return it on three different occasions.
