The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed the death of its newly elected assistant publicity secretary Karamo Yesiro.
Mr. Yesiro died about 24 hours after he was re-elected at the Lagos APC congress held on Tuesday at Mobolaji Johnson Stadium.
He was among the state executives elected by consensus at the congress and was scheduled to be inaugurated with other officials at the party secretariat on Thursday.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the party’s publicity secretary Seye Oladejo the APC said it received news of Yesiro’s death with shock.
“The Lagos State chapter of the APC received the news of the sudden death of our newly elected assistant publicity secretary, Karamo Yesiro,” the statement said.
Publicity secretary Oladejo said Yesiro had just been entrusted with the responsibility of serving in the state executive council of the party.
He said the late party member’s tenure was cut short but that he left an impression on colleagues and members.
“He was a party man whose contributions to the growth and stability of the APC in Lagos State will not be forgotten,” he said.
Oladejo said the party extended condolences to Yesiro’s family, political associates, friends and supporters.
He added that members of the party were united in mourning his death.
