Damilola Marshal, daughter of Fuji musician Wasiu Marshall, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate and KWAM1, has announced her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Damilola, who serves as senior special assistant on tourism to Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made her plan known in an Instagram post on Tuesday, stating her desire to represent Surulere Constituency 2.

“I am excited to share that I, Barr. Damilola Ayinde Marshal, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she wrote.

The lawyer, who has practised for 12 years, said her experience has shaped her understanding of governance, justice and community needs.

“I am a woman of excellence and results. I am ready to serve and lead. With my background, I am fully prepared and ready to fight for what truly matters. I promise to be the voice of the youths in the House.

“As a young woman, I believe this is exactly what my people need right now, and that is why I decided to step forward,” she added.

She also appealed to voters to support competence and progress, signing off with the message, “Youth Lokan!!! Igbega Eko, Ajumose wa ni.”

Damilola is seeking to replace Mosunmola Sangodara, who currently represents the constituency under the All Progressives Congress.

A graduate of North America University, Houdegbe, Cotonou, Benin Republic, she was called to the Nigerian Bar on December 15, 2015. She later obtained a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 2022.

Governor Sanwo-Olu appointed her as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism on May 3, 2024.

Her appointment drew public attention at the coronation and birthday reception of Oba Sikirullah Apena, where her father publicly thanked the governor in a viral video, noting that it was his daughter who asked him to convey the message.
