Korean-American writer Min Jin Lee has thanked Kaduna State first lady Hadiza El-Rufai after the latter began reading the novel Pachinko.

Mrs El-Rufai had tweeted on Monday that she began exploring Korea in the unified era through the novel.

“By reading, we can ‘visit’ many places in the world, even do some time-travelling. Where are you off to next? Me, I’m on my way to (unified) Korea (1910) Byeeee!” she wrote.

Although the first lady did not tag the author in her post, Lee reacted, saying she was honoured.

“Honored. Hope you enjoy it. Safe lit travels,” she wrote.

El-Rufai said she was already captivated. “Wow!!! Thank you. I’m already captivated,” she said.

Pachinko revolves around a Korean family exiled in Japan.

Lee, 52, is also the author of Free Food for Millionaires.
