Kidnappers yet to release my mum despite receiving N1.5m – Siasia

Former Nigerian international, Samson Siasia, has cried out that the kidnappers of his mother, Beauty Siasia, are yet to set her free despite receiving N1.5 million ransom.

Speaking with NationSport in Abuja on Sunday, Siasia said the abductors released his cousin’s mother-in-law, Florence Douanana, 66, and also took in an unnamed person who delivered the money to them.

He said: “The situation is pathetic. Nothing has changed. We paid N1.5 million for her release but instead of releasing my mother they released my cousin’s mother-in-law and also captured the person that took the money to them.”

Siasia said he did not know what else he would do, adding that he was “tired, frustrated and confused.”

The abductors had initially made a demand of N70 million before it was brought down to N50 million and then N30 million.

Mrs Siasia, 79, has now been in her captors’ hands for close to two months after she was kidnapped on July 15 in Odoni community, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

The septuagenarian was kidnapped with Mrs Douanana and her 17-year-old daughter, Selekire Douanana.

Siasia’s mother had earlier been kidnapped in November 2015, spending 13 days with her kidnappers until a ransom of about N600,000 was allegedly paid.
