Kidnappers of Oyedepo’s church members reduce ransom to N3m

Abductors of three members of Living Faith Church International, a church founded by Bishop David Oyedepo, in Kogi have reportedly reduced their demand for ransom from N30 million to N3 million.

The victims are two female students of Kogi State Polytechnic (Itakpe campus) while the other is a non-academic member of staff of Confluence University of Science and Technology.

They were taken captive on Sunday at the church located in Osara community, Adavi LGA of Kogi during a night rehearsal.

A relative of one of the abducted students, who spoke with PUNCH on the condition of anonymity, said, “They actually demanded N30million. Some relatives who engaged the kidnappers begged and it was reduced to N1million for each of the abductees.

“One of the parents begged that they accept N100,000 ransom for each of them. They threatened to kill the victims so we begged that they spare them while we run around to raise money. Even the N100,000 is beyond my reach as a civil servant.”

When contacted, Kogi police spokesman William Aya said the Command is not aware but is moving towards rescuing the abducted victims.
