Why I kept my marriage secret – D’banj

Singer-songwriter, D’banj, has admitted he kept his marriage to Lineo Didi Kilgrow a secret because he didn’t want the pressure that comes with celebrity marriages.

The 37-year-old got married in a private marriage ceremony attended by close family and a few friends at his father’s house in 2016.

He finally confirmed the marriage in a recent interview with THE BEAT 99.9 FM.

Before then, the man known as Koko Master neither confirmed nor denied being married, though his marital status was one of the worst kept secrets in the entertainment industry.

“I decided to keep my marriage to Didi a secret because based on experience, relationships like this get mixed with media hypes and speculations and then it became complicated,” said D’banj.

He also thanked his inner circle who kept the news of his marriage from the public.

“I want to thank my close friends, parent, and families for keeping this secret.

“You know the pressure to get married was this high and mum told me she wants to see the girl I am dating and would want to marry.

“I told her that there was this babe and we didn’t want to marry yet but she insisted that she was the one for me that we should have a small ceremony and the rest is history. I’m glad I listened to her.”

D’banj announced the birth of his son, Daniel III, in May.
