Kanu renews old times with Ronaldinho

They may not have played together in the same team, however, Nwankwo Kanu and Ronaldinho have mutual respect for each other.

Kanu spent the majority of his club career at Arsenal, albeit brief stops at Ajax, Inter Milan and West Brom.

Ronaldinho, meanwhile, never took the Premier League route, enjoying spells at Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan.

When both meet on Thursday, it was all smiles.

The pair were pictured exchanging pleasantries in a post by the ex-Super Eagles skipper.

“Old friends who gave their all to play the beautiful game. Keep on shining, love you brother,” Kanu wrote on Twitter.

Kanu is fondly remembered for leading Nigeria to Olympic gold medal in 1996 – defeating Ronaldinho’s Samba Boys en route to the final.

The Brazilian somewhat retaliated in 2003, leading the Selecao to thrash the Super Eagles 3-0 in an international friendly at the Abuja National Stadium with the former Arsenal forward in action.
