Joel Obi joins fourth Italian club

Super Eagles midfielder, Joel Obi, has moved from Torino to fellow Italian side Chievo Verona ahead of the new Serie A season.

The 27-year-old signs for Chievo after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal for an undisclosed transfer fee.

“A new adventure is about to begin, but first of all I would like to thank my Torino teammates and all the staff for the unique years spent together.” Joel Obi said on social media.

Chievo is his fourth Italian club after Inter Milan, Parma and Torino.

Obi joined Torino from Inter in July 2015 and went on to score seven goals and provide five assists in 59 matches for the club.

He made his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria against Sierra Leone in February 2011 and has made 15 appearances for the three-time African champions.

The 27-year-old was part of the Super Eagles’ 23-man squad to the recently concluded FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia but didn’t feature as Nigeria crashed out in the group stage after one win and two losses from three Group D games.
