Convener of #RevolutionNow protests, Omoyele Sowore, has denied meeting severally with “foreign collaborators” in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, and other countries to plan a coup against President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.

Mr Sowore, who is being held by the DSS since August 2, said this in an affidavit filed on his behalf by one of his lawyers, Marshall Abubakar, on Tuesday before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

He is challenging the order for his detention issued by the court at the instance of the DSS on August 8.

Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters, denied receiving “millions of dollars” from the alleged collaborators at the meetings to sponsor widespread attacks on Nigeria aimed at unseating President Buhari.

He said that contrary to claims by the DSS, he had never visited Dubai or any city in the UAE.

According to him, he only “mobilised the Nigerian people including students and youths, workers, market women and other oppressed people to influence the Federal government, the 36 state governments and 774 local governments to address the crises of corruption and insecurity.”
