Governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Darius Ishaku, has been declared the winner of the election in Taraba State.
Returning Officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Shehu Iya, made the announcement on Tuesday morning at the INEC office in Jalingo, state capital of Taraba.
Prof. Iya of the Modibo Adama University, Yola, said Ishaku polled 520,433 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Sani Danladi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who recorded 362,735 votes.
Ishaku is the incumbent governor of Taraba.
The results from the 16 LGAs show that Ishaku won 12 LGAs while Danladi claimed victory in four LGAs.
Iya put the total registered voters for Saturday’s election in the state at 1,777,105 while total accredited voters were 931,539.
A total of 925,320 votes were cast, 909,716 were valid while 15,604 votes were rejected.
