Serbia’s Eagles provided a stern test for Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Tuesday.

On the back of a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Morocco, the Europeans were desperate to end the international break on the high.

Nigeria, meanwhile, were gathering dangerous momentum, having garnered successive wins over Argentina and Poland.

However, Mladen Krstajic’s Eagles proved to be the superior Eagles on the night.

Two second-half goals from Aleksandar Mitrović helped the Europeans defeat Nigeria 2-0 at the Hive Stadium in London.

Serbia paraded some present and ageing stars of the game including ex-Chelsea duo Branislav Ivanovic and Nemanja Matic.

Roma defender, Aleksandar Kolarov, skippered the team.

In absence of Mikel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi led the Nigerian troops.

Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi all featured while Leon Balogun withdrew after failing a late fitness test.

Al Ahly forward, Junior Ajayi, finally made his Super Eagles debut, replacing Alex Iwobi with less than 10 minutes left.
