I’m ashamed of Obaseki’s role in Edo assembly crisis – Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomhole

National chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has said that he is ashamed of the role being played by Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, in the crisis at the State House of Assembly.

Oshiomhole said this on Friday night at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja when he received APC members-elect of Bauchi State House of Assembly.

“Unfortunately, the situation in Bauchi is also similar to the one that is happening in Edo State,” Oshiomhole said.

Nine out of 24 members were reported to have been recently inaugurated overnight by Mr Obaseki.

Several others lawmakers-elect alleged that they were attacked by thugs sent by the governor.

While Obaseki favours a particular candidate for speaker role, more than half of the assembly want another candidate to take the position.

“I am ashamed to talk about it but there is nothing to hide.

“We have a similar situation in Edo where in our own case we have 24/24, all of them APC, but somebody wants a particular person as a speaker.

“Nineteen out of 24 are opposed to this person,” Oshiomhole said trying not to directly mention names.
