Governor-elect of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, has been issued a certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Imo deputy governor-elect, Gerald Irona, and 26 out of 27 House of Assembly members-elect also received their certificates of return on Wednesday.

Supervisory commissioner of INEC, representing Imo and Abia States, Okey Ibeanu, issued them the certificates in a ceremony at the commission’s office in Owerri, Imo State capital.

Only the member-elect for Ideato North state constituency, Authur Egwim, did not receive his.

However, Imo resident electoral commissioner, Prof. Francis Ezeonu, apologised for the omission, adding that the legislator had nothing to worry about as it was only a regrettable omission.

“We want to sincerely apologise to Mr Authur Egwim, member-elect for Ideato North state constituency. It was an omission. But I want to assure you that you will receive your certificate of return next week. There is no cause for alarm,” Ezeonu said.
