IG orders FCID to take over investigation into Remo Stars’ footballer’s death

Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) to take over investigation into the death of a footballer signed to Remo Stars FC.

Force spokesman, Frank Mba, said in a statement on Monday that the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of FCID has been ordered to take over the investigation.

He said the IG gave the order on Monday while reviewing daily reports of major crime incidents across the country.

​According to him, the IG has commiserated with the family and friends of the deceased, saying he would ensure they get justice.

Tiamiyu Kazeem was killed on Saturday in Sagamu, Ogun, during a scuffle with police officers.
