Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Lagos council, Musiliu Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo, has called for calm and respect for law and order following the arrest of the council’s treasurer Mustapha Adekunle aka Sego and Lagos Island ‘B’ branch chairman Abdulazeez Lawal aka Kunle Poly.

Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested the duo on Monday over last Thursday’s clash between the factional union members in Idumota, Lagos Island.

RRS said the duo was the two principal suspects in the constant clashes in Idumota and its environs.

Commercial activities have yet to resume in full in Idumota since the incident occurred, which the police said, led to the death of a victim.

MC Oluomo quoted by The Nation welcomed the arrest of the union leaders as a step in resolving the crisis.

“We need to allow the police to do their job without intervening in it. Their investigation would unravel the truth behind the intermittent clashes and bring it to an end,” he was quoted as saying.

MC Oluomo urged NURTW members to go about their activities in peace, warning that anyone found causing violence would face the law.

Kunle Poly and Sego have been transferred to Zone II, Onikan, the police said.
