Ideye completes move to China

Brown Ideye

Super Eagles forward, Brown Ideye, has completed a move to the Chinese Super League (CSL) from Greek champions, Olympiacos.

Ideye, 28, joins Tianjin TEDA – club of Eagles skipper, Mikel Obi, on a three-year deal.

The ex-West Bromwich Albion man becomes the latest high-profile Nigerian to move to the Asian nation following the footsteps of Mikel, Obafemi Martins and Odion Ighalo.

His decision to switch to the CSL will come as a shock to many considering his fine run of form for Olympiacos this season which has seen him notch 13 goals to lead the scorers chart.

Also, the 28-year-old was on track to clinch a double considering Olympiacos lead the pace in the league and already through to the Greek Cup final.

But obviously, there are other things on the mind of the former youth international.

Ideye moved to Greece in August 2015 from English club West Brom.

He was West Brom’s then-record club signing when he joined them in 2014 from Dynamo Kiev, but failed to justify the huge price tag.

Ideye made his international debut for Nigeria in August 2010 and has scored six goals in 27 appearances for the Super Eagles.

In 2013, he helped his country clinch their third Africa Cup of Nations title, scoring in the 4-1 semi-final victory over Mali.
