Actress Bukky Wright has revealed that she is open to getting married again if she finds the right partner.

The 57-year-old made this known in a recent interview with BBC Yoruba, where she spoke about love, marriage and self-worth.

“I’ll still love to get married again if I find the right partner,” she said.

The actress explained that although marriage is not compulsory, she still likes the idea.

“It’s something I like, but only if God forbids it. I don’t tell women to try it, because I like it,” she added.

Bukky further stressed that she would not rush into marriage, saying, “If God has a man who goes to the age of six, I won’t wait until he is five and a half. If God says he will go to the top of the mountain, he will not stop until he reaches the top of the mountain.”

Addressing the trend of women exposing their bodies to gain attention on social media, the actress said some actresses now dress indecently to gain followers. According to her, most Nigerian men actually prefer women who are well covered.

She said: “If you ask Nigerian men, they’ll tell you they prefer their women covered.”

The actress also expressed concern about how women’s self-worth has been tied to physical appearance and online attention.

Bukky Wright returned to Nollywood in January after a long break with roles in movies such as Red Circle, Iyalode and Something About The Briggs. She had relocated to the United States for years before returning to Nigeria.

In February, the actress revealed during a chat with comedian Teju Babyface that she once suffered depression and relied on medication until her children helped her recover.

She said, “I went through depression. I was on medication. I was dealing with so much. But my children helped me get out of it. They are my first critics and my pillar.”

Bukky Wright, born Oluwabukola Sekinat Ajoke Wright, began acting in 1996 and has featured in numerous Yoruba and English films.

She is also an entrepreneur and politician, having contested for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly in 2014 under the Social Democratic Party (SDP). She is a mother of two and a grandmother.
