Big Brother Naija season seven winner and actress Phyna has spoken out after a video showing her involved in a fight at an Abuja hotel went viral on Tuesday.
The reality TV star denied being beaten as widely speculated online, claiming instead that she was attacked from behind.
Phyna wrote on Instagram on Wednesday that she was ambushed and the viral clip was edited to twist the narrative.
“Who I beat dey hospital, dem carry touts come fight and people to record. I was attacked from behind on my way out, dem even crop the video just to twist story say dem beat me. Make una rest! The girl wey I beat never even regain consciousness. Una dey mad! Pray for me make who I beat no die abeg,” she wrote.
The actress said the clip circulating online was cropped to make her appear as the victim of an assault. She added that she was ambushed by a group who came to provoke her.
Reports said the incident happened at a hotel in Abuja and was triggered by a disagreement over N200,000. The argument allegedly started in her room before escalating into a physical confrontation in the hotel lobby.
In the viral video, Phyna was seen in a black hoodie and trousers exchanging blows with another woman as onlookers tried to intervene. Witnesses claimed that police officers and hotel security stepped in to restore order.
The footage quickly spread across social media, drawing mixed reactions. While some users defended Phyna’s actions as self-defence, others criticised her conduct, saying it was unbecoming of a celebrity.
As of press time, neither the hotel management nor the police had issued a statement on the incident.
