Actor Jude Chukwuka has narrated how he was attacked by unknown men on a movie set in Ikorodu, Lagos, over the death of singer Mohbad.
Chukwuka revealed in an interview with Seun Oloketuyi on YouTube that the attackers wrongly believed he was Naira Marley’s father and accused him of being responsible for Mohbad’s death.
The 59-year-old actor explained that the men were convinced that Naira Marley—whom they had mistaken for his son—played a role in the singer’s passing.
“I understood from the beginning that blaming Naira Marley for Mohbad’s death was an attack on his personality,” he said.
“Some people wanted to take advantage of the situation to gain fame. Claiming that my son was responsible for Mohbad’s death, a group of men attacked me on a film set.”
Chukwuka said he had to clarify that he had no connection to Naira Marley.
“I told them, ‘I am not Naira Marley’s father.’ I explained that my hometown is in Delta State while he is from Abeokuta.”
In July 2020, Naira Marley gifted Jude N1 million after a video of Chukwuka singing Marley’s song “Mafo” went viral.
Impressed by the actor’s rendition, Naira Marley announced the reward on social media and fulfilled his promise shortly thereafter.
