I ran from Sullivan Chime to save my life – Wife

Sullivan Chime and wife Clara Chime

Estranged wife of former governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime, on Monday told an FCT High Court Apo, that she left her matrimonial home for fear of her life.

Mr Chime had filed the suit seeking dissolution of his 11-year-old marriage with Clara.

Clara said during cross-examination by Chime’s counsel, Paul Onyia, that she met her husband while he was governor.

She said she bought two vehicles for herself while she was the first lady and that the money was not from the allowance she got as Chime’s wife.

“I did not use his money to buy those vehicles from the allowances I received as the wife of the governor,” she said.

The former governor’s wife also said she got landed property from Enugu State Housing Corporation, and that she paid for it after leaving office.

Clara said she did not know how much Chime earns as pension.

She told the court that she had business interests in oil and gas and that she had been living well despite not receiving maintenance allowance from her husband since they fell out in 2013.

She again accused Chime of keeping her away from her only child.

“I only see my child during church service or social events whenever I am in town,” she said.

Justice Angela Otaluka, after hearing her testimony, adjourned the case until October 14 for adoption of final written addresses.
