I could have lost my life in June, Adesua Etomi recounts near-death experience

Actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington has revealed that she almost lost her life in June after going through what she described as a horrific experience that led to an unplanned surgery.

In a post shared on Instagram on Sunday, the Wedding Party star said the incident happened while she was in the United Kingdom with her husband, Banky W and their sons for a ministry trip.

She wrote: “Long read, but please stay with me. I could have lost my life in June of this year. I went through a horrific incident that landed me in unplanned surgery. The surgery was ironically the least dramatic part of what I went through. I was in the UK with my husband and sons (sons? I have two sons). We were there to serve God. We had two speaking engagements. One in London and the other in Manchester.”

Reflecting on how narrowly she escaped death, Adesua continued: “If even one single detail of that day were different, I wouldn’t be here today. I shudder when I think about it… I have become even more aware of the goodness and presence of God. Like a map, I can literally look back over that day and trace how His hands were all over that situation. There is nothing anyone can tell me, God is real!”

She added: “Let’s be softer, kinder, gentler, forgiving, patient, loving, and peaceful. I will never take another day for granted. Neither should you.”

Adesua’s post has drawn prayers and messages of gratitude from fans and colleagues.

The actress and her husband married in 2017 and share a son, Zaiah. The couple announced in October 2024 that they were expecting their second child.
