With one of Nigeria’s most sought after bachelors, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, set to marry Cynthia Obianodo, the pretty lady he met on Twitter, we offer tips on how you too can find true love in cyberspace.

Keep an open mind

It’s very important to be open-minded and willing to take risk. When all your ideas about online dating is focused on the negativities, then it is almost impossible to convince yourself of the possibilities of a great relationship beginning online.

Meet up soon

Don’t fool yourself that all is well by falling in love with a fantasy of what you want. Make arrangement to meet the person as soon as possible and start a proper relationship from there. It is advisable to meet in public and tell someone you trust where you are going and who you are meeting. If you feel you and your partner connect at first meet then you are on your way.

Be yourself

Living a separate life on social media and in real life will not help you find true love. Be as real as possible and let true love find you because of exactly who you are.

Keep it simple

Getting to know someone through social media can be hard. You never know if you are saying or doing enough. You don’t want to be a stalker either. Don’t send selfies on Snapchat in the early stages of flirting. Don’t flirt on their Facebook timeline – everyone can see it. Don’t use lots of winking smileys in the early stages. Don’t carpet bomb each other’s Facebook pages with declarations of love. It’s not a given that all your other Facebook friends will find it equally cute when it’s constantly in their news feeds.

Be impulsive

Don’t over think anything. Act as you want to, be as free as possible and don’t cover up.  When you act basically on your instinct, you don’t have to try too hard to please and falling in love comes naturally.

Don’t read too much into what you see on social media

If you have an interest in a man or woman who you like, not everything written on their social media page is black and white. It is always important to ask questions and know facts. That way relationships can be established based on trust and honesty.

Did we miss out anything? We will be glad to take further tips from the soon-to-be Mr and Mrs Obi-Uchendu.
