Actor Akin Lewis has opened up about how the sudden end of his first marriage affected him deeply.
Akin said, “I still don’t understand why my first wife left. Even after all these years, it remains a mystery to me. The sudden end of that marriage shook me deeply and it left questions I never got answers to. It caused me intense pain.”
He added that the experience changed how he looked at relationships and people. It also helped him focus on his personal growth and his work in film.
Akin began his acting career in the 1970s and has appeared in many Nigerian movies and television shows over more than five decades. He noted that his first marriage ended when his then‑wife decided to leave, despite his efforts to make it work. He remarried later because he did not want to remain single.
In the same conversation, Akim also spoke about how veteran actors are often paid low fees and emphasized the need for fair compensation for long careers in the industry.
