Actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has shared how she landed a role in the upcoming Nollywood film The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives.

On Monday, filmmaker Mo Abudu revealed the cast for the movie on her Instagram page. The list includes Faithia Williams, Nancy Isime, Uzor Arukwe, Mike Ezuruonye, Blessing Obasi and Nkechi Blessing.

Reacting to the announcement on her Instagram page, Nkechi described how she got the call for the role and her excitement about being chosen. She wrote that God said “at his own appointed time I will make it happen.” After so many years in the industry, she said she was finally having a spot at the top.

She added, “I mean me? A cast in the most anticipated movie of the year? I mean a Mo Abudu production? Somebody pinch me. When I got this call to come in for reading, I thought they had dialed a wrong number. I couldn’t continue my sleep. I woke up earlier than usual so I wouldn’t be late. Then I walked into that room… I tried to maintain composure, but inside I wanted to scream. To you all who called me a failed actress at every opportunity, this year 2026 you will eat your words and drink your tears. As long as God is still seated on the throne of mercy, I, Nkechi Blessing Sunday, will continue to excel, prosper, and walk into every room full of opportunities.”

She also shared her experience meeting Mo Abudu, describing her as welcoming, kind and warm.

The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives is an adaptation of the 2010 novel by Nigerian author Lola Shoneyin, which explores life in a polygamous household and the rivalries and secrets among wives. The movie is produced by EbonyLife Films in partnership with Genesis Group, Nile Media Entertainment Group and Silverbird Group, with direction by Daniel Oriahi and screenplay by Adze Ugah.

The film is scheduled for a wide cinema release in December 2026 in Nigeria and international markets.
