Hermaphrodite Nigerian football star cries out for help

Female footballer, Bessy Ekaete Boniface, has called on Nigerians to come help get her through the condition of hermaphroditism.

Being an hermaphrodite means the Ibom Angels player posses both male and female reproductive organs.

Due to her condition, Bessy has been unable to advance her career.

Evidently was her being indiscriminately thrown out of the Falconets camp preparing for the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Outside the pitch, the former Delta Queens striker has endured harassment having publicly declared her status.

“Walking on the road and sometimes on the pitch, people mock me saying ‘are you a boy or a girl?’,” Bessy said in an Interview with Galaxy Television on Thursday.

“At times I will just sit down alone and say ‘God, I don’t wanna just live a wasted life’. Though I’ve been having male admirers, but in order to avoid the embarrassment of him getting to know my condition, I try to entirely stay away from relationships.”

Bessy, who according to multiple medical reports is 85 per cent female, will have to undergo corrective surgery abroad in order to get rid of the deformity.

It is for this reason the Akwa Ibom-born player is calling for assistance from Nigerians.

“All I want now is for Nigerians to come to my aid, to help me return to my normal form as a woman,” she pleaded.

“So I can play this football to the fullest. It is an inbuilt talent God has installed in me that’s why am calling on Nigerians especially my state (Akwa Ibom) to please assist.

“I have been crying for so long now. I’ve sent countless letters to the state government but to no avail.”
