Herdsmen didn’t attack Soyinka’s house – Son

Wole Soyinka

Olaokun Soyinka son of Nobel laureate Prof Wole Soyinka has debunked reports that herdsmen invaded the residence of his father in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

Some online news media (not Qed.ng) had reported that herders invaded Soyinka’s residence, prompting the professor of English to move to Lagos.

The reports also claimed one of the herders was arrested while cows were confiscated.

However, in a statement sent to Qed.ng on Wednesday, Soyinka’s son confirmed that cows strayed into Soyinka’s land on Tuesday, but there was no incident of attack.

“I have confirmed that while cows did stray onto Professor Soyinka’s land yesterday (Tues. Feb.9), there was no incident of ‘attack’, no violence and no attempt to enter the house,” he said.

“Kindly debunk this information where you can.

“We do not need confusion added to the already tense situation in the country.”
